What You Can Do To Stay on Schedule

Time is Your Most Precious Commodity

Time  equals Life!  Every day is a gift, so I’m always trying to maximize my time.  If I can maximize my time, I’ll maximize my life!  It’s the ability to organize that’s the key skill to staying on schedule and making the most of your time!  The challenge is that organizing and scheduling is hard work, but vital to your success!  Here are a few tips that you can implement quickly:

The 3 O’s of Staying On Schedule

Overcome Procrastination

Procrastination is delaying a high priority task in favor of low priority tasks.  This always causes frustration!  A good solution here is to use a technique I call The Power of 15.  Use a simple kitchen timer and give yourself a deadline.  This will help you work with a faster tempo, usually the faster you work the more productive you become!

Organize your Workspace

Most disorganization comes from indecision.  I’ve had to overcome my fear of making a mistake about throwing the wrong things away.  One great question I’ve learned is, “what’s the worst thing that can happen if I can’t retrieve this?”  Also keeping everything in my evernote has almost eliminated this fear entirely!

Optimize your Focus

The secret to focus is in what you’re going to say no to.  Even though I have the habit on wanting to cram as much into as a day as possible, I’m learning that I can’t do everything!  One exercise to help you focus is to develop a Stop Doing List.  All of us, I assume, have a to-do list.  It’s one of the great habits of effective people, but do you have a stop doing list?  What are the things that you are currently doing that you need to stop doing?  Sit down right now for 10 minutes and write out a list of all the things that you need to discontinue.  The secret to concentration is elimination!

Time equals life!  What are your keys to maximizing time?
