Who are you going to become in 2013?

Who are you becoming?

BE

Last month my wife bought this picture and hung it in our entryway.  It’s a great reminder to me that who I am becoming is much more important than what I am doing!  Sometimes for us high achievers, we place too much value on what we’re doing instead of focusing on who we are becoming!  Since this is the time of the year that most people set their goals here are a couple of thoughts:

Don’t Just Set Doing Goals but Also Being Goals

If you concentrate on being a big person you’ll automatically do big things.  When you live life correctly,  what you do should flow out of who you are not the other way around.  Most people let what they do define them and end up at the wrong destination in life.  Setting being goals help you stay focused on the main thing, who you are becoming!

What are the Key Characteristics I Need to Develop?

Maybe you need to become more optimistic or generous or grateful?  As you’re planning this year don’t forget to develop a strategy for becoming a bigger person.  After you formulate each goal, ask yourself, “What kind of person do I need to become in order to do this?”.  This year one of my goals is to run a marathon.  In order to reach this goal I need to become more disciplined in my running routine.  The reality is, if I don’t become a more disciplined person in this arena, I will not reach my goal of running a marathon.  With each goal you set, you should ask yourself, “What kind of person do I need to become in order to accomplish this task?”

What is 1 Being Goal that you need to set?
